Saturday January 20, 2018 from 10am to 12p Austin City Hall 301 W 2nd St, Austin, TX 78701
A peaceful protest at Austin City Hall calling for Congress to open an investigation to determine whether there are sufficient grounds to Impeach President Trump with a lineup of speakers, musical performances by the Resistance Choir of South Central Texas, and an appearance by the Texas Handmaids
Marching slowly from City Hall approximately 1 mile to the Texas State Capitol
The Texas Handmaids will robe up and march from the Impeach Trump Solidarity Rally Austin at a dirge pace very slowly towards the South side of the Texas State Capitol down Congress as the Resistance Choir of South Central Texas sings "I Can't Keep Quiet Anymore" by MILCK intermittently, arriving at the start of the 45th TX Roe V Wade Rally. The slowed pace is intended to boost impact, allow our singers to breathe, and to avoid leaving slower marchers behind. Anyone who supports reproductive justice and wishes to bring a sign and follow them is welcome to do so! We strongly encourage people going from one event to the other on foot to stick together following the Handmaids as a flag for safety in numbers.
Hosted by the Texas Reproductive Rights Rally Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 1 PM - 4 PM South Steps of the TX State Capitol 1100 Congress Ave, Austin, Texas 78701
Join the Texas Reproductive Rights Rally and celebrate the anniversary of the historic Roe V Wade Supreme Court Decision which guaruntees the right to medical privacy in the event of a person seeking an abortion. This event is absolutely free of charge and open to all.
There will be community information tables from many local activism organizations where people can connect directly with some of the key organizations working on reproductive rights issues in the State of Texas. We will also have a great lineup of speakers including State Representative Donna Howard, poets, spoken word performances, musicians, and more! See updates about our program on the web here.
There will also be a table with coloring for the kids (and possibly bubble activities weather permitting). Please exercise your best parental judgement about your child's level of understanding, maturity level, and ability to handle the subject matter of the event, but know that they are welcome and we will have the kids table right by the crowd area so you can be close to your kids. We will try to secure at least one or two volunteers to help supervise!
Please feel free to bring your own chair for this event if you want to be able to sit down and rest your feet while you enjoy the program!
